RACE DATE: 4/27/2024

Key Traffic Control To Know:

  • BRIDGE: Vehicular traffic on the bridge will be managed by police from 6:45 - 7:30 for the start of the 5K race.  If you must be on the road at this time - expect delays.  Runners will be mainly using the shoulders except for the start of the race.
  • SEA TRAIL: Runners will be on the side of the road down Clubhouse Dr. all the way through Sea Trail.  Please use caution as you drive here.
  • 904: There will be a lot of cones.  Southbound traffic will be routed to use the center lane with cones on both sides while the Northbound lane is not affected.  Runners will be using the normal southbound vehicular lane.

  • SHORELINE WEST: Eastbound traffic on Shoreline Dr. West will be routed through Sea Trail at Clubhouse Dr. (Westbound traffic on Shoreline Dr. West from Clubhouse Dr. will not be affected)

  • GEORGETOWN RD: Eastbound traffic on Georgetown Rd. will be stopped from 6:30am - 8:30am and routed through Sea Trail at Clubhouse Dr. (Westbound traffic going toward Calabash will not be affected for the race)

  • TRAFFIC CIRCLE: No Southbound traffic is allowed toward the park from the traffic circle on Sunset Blvd.

All races take place on roads throughout Sunset Beach NC from 6:45am to 10:30am on April 27th, 2024.  Runners will be lined up on near the park on the road between Dave's & the Sunset Beach waterfront park on Sunset Blvd. (which will be closed) between 6:15am and 7:45am for the 5K and half marathon.

The Half Marathon starts at 6:45am. Runners go all the way through Sea Trail entering onto Clubhouse Rd. off of Shoreline Dr. West. They come out onto Georgetown Rd. off of Clubhouse and turn right, and then right onto Hwy 904. Runners go through High Market St., Queen Anne St. and right onto Sunset Blvd. Runners go over the bridge and run the entire island before finishing 13.1 miles back in the park on the mainland

The 10k & 5K start at 7:00am in the park. Runners will head over the bridge onto the island and back to complete a 3.1 mile or 6.2 mile course in the morning. The 10K runs pretty much the entire island.

All runners should be off the roads by 10:30am.

If you're not able to officially volunteer on the course, please consider cheering on runners as they pass by your house.  Loud noise makers like cowbells are encouraged or maybe make a sign.  Don't worry about water stops, we've got that covered but runners love a little encouragement along the way.
