Run Sunset Beach is coming up March 30th, 2019 (that’s this Saturday!) and this post has everything you need to know to get ready.  We’re answering all of the frequently asked questions and giving you key race day info so please read it carefully; but if you have any questions at all, you can contact us directly and we’ll do our best to respond promptly.

We’re excited to offer 2 free beer/cider tickets (bring ID), free snoballs, pizza, Barbecue and a party in the park for all runners.  On top of the massive finisher medal, we have some cool wooden age group awards for top 3 overall & masters as well as 1st place in each age group, 2nd and 3rd age group winners receive a certificate.  This is a guaranteed fun morning!

RACE DAY FOR ALL RACES:  (3/30/2019)
VERY IMPORTANT!  Parking is located here and a free shuttle will take you to/from the start/finish line.  There is virtually no parking near the start/finish line so you must utilize this parking lot.  We will have a FREE shuttle taking runners to the start line and they will be running all day to bring you back.
The start/finish line is located here in the Sunset Beach waterfront park for all race distances.  Shuttles start running at 5am – please show up at least 60-90 minutes prior to your race start time to park, shuttle and get warmed up.
*Yes, you can be dropped off at the start line, just no parking.  There is handicap parking near the start line.

YOUR BIB # CAN BE FOUND HERE

*Click the tab on the left “Am I Registered” to find your bib number.
*Yes, we accept late registrations at packet pickup and race day until we sell out.
*Yes, you may have a friend/family member pick up your packet. They must have your bib %BIB_NUMBER% and copy of your photo ID. This could be a picture or screenshot on their phone – or printed.

RACE DAY PARKING:
ALL PARKING must be in our designated parking lots and take our FREE shuttle!  This shuttle runs from 5:00am – 11am  CLICK HERE for directions to the designated parking area.  Or use “Ingram Planetarium” 7625 High Market St. Sunset Beach, NC 28468.
PLEASE ARRIVE 60-90 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR START TIME FOR PARKING & SHUTTLES!!
★ GEAR CHECK will be provided in the park near the start/finish line area.
★ If you absolutely cannot make it to packet pickup on Friday and you must pick it up the morning of the race, PLEASE come super extra early to accommodate this!  We will have a hard cut-off on packet pickup race morning at 6:30 for all races!  This will be located at the park near the start line.

RACE DAY INFORMATION
HALF MARATHON INFO (Starts at 7am)
★ 8 Water Stops with Gatorade and Water.
★ 3 Potty Breaks 🙂
★ ICEE Pop Station

5K ROUTE INFO (Starts at 7:20am)
★ 1 Water Stop with Gatorade and Water.

1 MILE ROUTE INFO (Starts at 8:30am)
★ A Fun Walk/Run through the park.
★ This has a different start/finish from the other races.  It will start IN the park on the walkway closest to the water and remain in the park with 3 laps around the pathway.  Listen for announcements in the park.

 TIPS:
(1) Arrive 60-90 minutes earlier for parking/shuttles.
(2) Bring your ID (for beer), bib & pins!
(3) Cash for extra food, drinks, beer, swag – especially spectators!
(4) Make an AWESOME sign!  especially spectators!
(5) Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!!  It might get a little warm and while we start early, provide water every 1.5 miles and do everything we can to help you race day, it’s important to properly hydrate yourself prior to running a race including pre-race hydration in the morning.

HEAT/WEATHER ADVISORY:
The temperature in Sunset Beach is expected to be in the 70’s.  While it’s too far ahead to estimate race day weather, anticipate warmer weather. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!! While we start early (7am), provide water every 1.5 miles and do everything we can to help you cool down during and after the race, it’s important to properly hydrate yourself prior to running a race including your pre-race hydration on race morning.  This is a rain or shine event.

How do you know if you’re signed up for the event?  If you’re getting this email, you’re all set.  You can also click here and click “Am I Registered” on the left side of the page to double check.
Can I swap tshirt sizes?  Yes, at the solutions tent – based on availability.  Please don’t wear it for the race if you intend to swap sizes.
Can I make a donation?   Yes, cash or check donation at packet pickup and race day.  Find a race director or staff member.
When Are Awards?   1 Mile/5K awards will be around 9:15; Half Marathon awards will be around 10:00.
What Awards Are Recognized?   Top 3 overall M/F, Masters & 5 year age groups.
Strollers Allowed?   Strollers are allowed on all courses.  You MUST check-in with our staff race morning and you will have a separate start immediately following the main start.  This is for safety and insurance reasons so please help us by following this.  You will still be included in age group awards and your start time will be based on when you cross the start line.  Please be careful and watch your surroundings!
Dogs Allowed?   I’m sorry, dogs are not allowed on sanctioned courses.  Well behaved dogs are allowed at the after party on a leash at all times.  Please bring a bag to clean up after them.
Age Restrictions?   No age restrictions, parental consent for all runners under 18 for any races are required.
Will I receive a medal?  Yes, everyone who registers will receive a medal.
What’s the plan for inclement weather?   This is a rain or shine event.
