Run Sunset Beach is this Saturday May 20th, 2017 and this post has everything you need to know to get ready.  We’re answering all of the frequently asked questions and giving you key race day info so please read it carefully; but if you have any questions at all, you can email us directly at info@coastalraceproductions.com and we’ll do our best to respond promptly.

HEAT ADVISORY:
The temperature in Sunset Beach has been in the 80’s.  Weather looks great for the weekend but a little hot.  Be sure to Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!!  While we start early (7am), provide water every 1.5 miles (8 total) and do everything we can to help you cool down during and after the race, it’s important to properly hydrate yourself prior to running a race including your pre-race hydration on race morning – bring a water! Although we have EMT’s at the Start/Finish Line area while out on the course, if at any time you start to feel faint or notice someone around you not doing well, immediately CALL 911.

 *Limited Pasta Dinner tickets are still available for only $7!  You will need to login to your RunSignUp account and we have a complete tutorial on our website here to help you out.  Dinner will include pasta, bread, salad and drinks (tea/water).  Angelos Bistro is definitely a locals favorite as one of the best Italian places around and if you’re looking for a great …and I mean GREAT pre-race meal, this is it!  They’d be a great choice for a post race celebration meal as well!

*Yes, we accept late registration at packet pickup and on race day until we sell out.
Yes, you may have a friend/family member pick up your packet. They must have your bib # and have a copy of your photo ID. This could be a picture or screenshot on their phone – or printed.

**Race Morning Packet Pickup Located Near the Start/Finish Line Area from 5:30 – 6:45 am**

***UPDATED PARKING INFORMATION***

RACE DAY FOR ALL RACES:  (5/20/2017)
VERY IMPORTANT!  Parking is located HERE and a free shuttle will take you to/from the start/finish line.  There is NO parking near the start/finish line so you must utilize this parking lot.  This shuttle is 100% free for all runners and spectators.  This shuttle will start at 5am and run until 11:30am.  This is the only parking available for the race so you must use the shuttle.  You can be dropped off close to the start line, but all cars must be parked here.

NOTE THE NEW 2017 START/FINISH LINE – located here in the Sunset Beach waterfront park for all race distances. (136 Sunset Blvd. Sunset Beach, NC 28468)

GEAR CHECK will be provided in the park near the start/finish line area in the gazebo.

RACE DAY PARKING:
I’d strongly recommend you park in our designated parking lot and take our FREE shuttle!  This shuttle runs from 5:30am – 11am  CLICK HERE for directions to the designated parking area. PLEASE ARRIVE 60-90 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR START TIME FOR PARKING & SHUTTLES!!  Cars may be towed if parking at the boat lot and business adjacent to the park.

RACE DAY INFORMATION:
HALF MARATHON INFO (Starts at 7:00 am)
★ 9 Water Stops with Gatorade and Water.
★ 3 Potty Breaks ?
★ ICEE Pop Station

5K ROUTE INFO (Starts at 7:10 am)
★ 1 Water Stop with Gatorade and Water.

1 MILE ROUTE INFO (Starts at 8:00 am)
★ A Fun Walk/Run/Crawl through the park and down a safe side road.

ROUTES:
This is an open course! The only lane that is shut down is 1 lane on the bridge, otherwise, run against traffic and stay to the side of the road!  For a full race description, check out out a detailed turn by turn blog here.

TIPS:
(1) Arrive 60-90 minutes earlier for parking/shuttles.
(2) Bring your bib & pins!
(3) Cash for extra food, drinks, beer, swag – especially spectators!  You must bring your ID – no matter how old you are to receive a beer.
(4) Make an AWESOME sign!  Especially spectators!
(5) Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!!  It’s important to properly hydrate yourself prior to running a race including pre-race hydration in the morning.

Race Series with a 1 Mile, 5K and Half Marathon on Oak Island (February), Sunset Beach (May), Holden Beach (September) and Ocean Isle Beach (October); but we also manage a 5K Holiday Series of Races!  We have a “5K Trick or Trot” in Shallotte, NC on 10/28, A Traditional “Turkey Trot” on Thanksgiving morning in Calabash, NC, “Ugly Sweater 5K” in Southport, NC and a “Day 1 Run” on 1/1/2018 back in Sunset Beach, NC on the island with an optional polar plunge afterward. Click Here For Registration

How do you know if you’re signed up for the event?  If you’re getting this email, you’re all set.
Can I swap tshirt sizes?   Yes, at the solutions tent – based on availability.  Please don’t wear it for the race if you intend to swap sizes.
Can I make a donation to the Turtle Patrol?   Yes, cash or check donation at packet pickup and race day are very much welcomed!
When Are Awards?   1 Mile/5K awards will be around 8:30; Half Marathon awards will be around 9:30.
What Awards Are Recognized?   Top 3 overall M/F and 5 year age groups.
Strollers Allowed?   Strollers are allowed on all courses.  Please be careful and watch your surroundings! We ask that you start toward the back.
Dogs Allowed?   I’m sorry, dogs are not allowed on sanctioned courses.  Well behaved dogs are allowed at the after party on a leash at all times.  Please bring a bag to clean up after them.
Age Restrictions?   No age restrictions, parental consent for all runners under 18 for any races are required.
Will I receive a medal?  Yes, everyone who registers will receive a medal.
What’s the plan for inclement weather?   This is a rain or shine event.  The only thing stopping it will be a hurricane and in that case we find a rain date or allow a “virtual” option.
